Approved by the National Cultural Heritage Administration, a deep-sea archaeological team conducted the first stage of investigations at the site of the No. 1 and No. 2 shipwrecks near the northwest continental slope of the South China Sea. As the final stop of a perform tour which started from Tongliang District of Chongqing Municipality to greet the upcoming Spring Festival, actors of the Tongliang Dragon Dance team staged a grand fire dragon dance show for tourists here on Monday. The dragon dance has a history of thousands of years in Tongliang. In May 2006, the Tongliang Dragon Dance was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage. Different from regular dragon dances, the fire dragon is the most heart-shaking part of the Tongliang Dragon Dance. The "fires" or "sparks" are molten iron at about 1,500 degrees Celsius. The Pinglu Canal is a flagship project on the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. It stretches from the Xijin reservoir in the city of Hengzhou to Qinzhou port in the south of Guangxi, where ships can reach the Beibu Gulf via the Qinjiang River, opening a shorter route to the sea for Guangxi and other regions in southwest China.
