Demonstartion In Support Of Gaza Held In Toulouse
Protesters are demonstrating in Toulouse, France, on January 13, 2024, in support of Gazans, the Gaza Strip, and more generally for Palestine. A protester is looking at an inscription on a McDonald's restaurant that reads 'Boycott, Free Palestine'. Since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th, Israel has imposed a complete blockade on the Gaza Strip, cutting off water, food, electricity, fuel, medicines, and sometimes communications with the outside world. South Africa has pleaded in the International Justice Court against Israel for not preventing a genocide in Gaza, with more than 80 countries siding with South Africa. The U.N. estimates that up to 2 million people in the Gaza Strip, or more than 85% of the population, have been forced to flee due to Israel's devastating bombing campaign. Despite Israel striking hospitals, UN shelters, UN schools, ambulances, and press buildings, the global North continues to support Israel, while the global South is calling for an immediate and lasting ceasefire.
