Pandas Wang Wang (meaning Net Net) and Fu Ni (meaning Lucky Girl) arrived at the zoo in November 2009 as the first pair of pandas in the southern part of the globe. As Australia's only breeding pair of giant pandas, Wang Wang and Fu Ni are one of the Adelaide Zoo's top attractions. The initial 10-year loan was renewed in 2019.
