Students from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dhaka University are painting masks in colorful preparation to celebrate the upcoming Bengali New Year 1431 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on April 03, 2024. Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla month, traces its origins back to the Mughal period when Emperor Akbar introduced the Bangla calendar to streamline tax collection, and over time it has become a part of Bengali culture and tradition.
