Iftar Gathering At The 27th Night Of Ramadan In Jakarta Arab Village
People are enjoying kebuli rice during a mass break-fasting event on the 27th night of Ramadan in Kampung Arab, West Jakarta, Indonesia, on April 6, 2024. Since the 18th century, the local residents of Kampung Arab in Pekojan, West Jakarta, have been hosting an annual iftar gathering on every 27th of Ramadan. Participants not only include locals but also those from other cities in West Java and Central Java. The highly-anticipated event is taking place on the streets around the hosting mosque. As part of the tradition, popular Middle Eastern dishes such as kebuli rice are being prepared. Uniquely, this tradition is held for men, while women are only allowed to have the gathering at home. The tradition also allows them to meet with relatives and family members whom they haven't seen in a long time. (Photo by Afriadi Hikmal/NurPhoto)
