On Monday, ANU officially ordered protesters to pack up and leave at its main campus in Canberra's northern suburbs. The university cited concerns that the camp is blocking an emergency evacuation site. Protesters voted to defy the order and formed a human barrier on Monday morning around the edge of the encampment, according to the state-owned Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Located in the center of ANU's Kambri precinct, the encampment was set up in late April as an act of protest against the university's continued ties with Israeli institutions amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
