Ecuador: Massive Wildfire Erupts In Quito Prompting Evacuation, Arson Suspect Arrested 5

A massive wildfire erupted in Quito on Tuesday, September 24, prompting the evacuation of nearby residents. Due to poor air quality caused by smoke and ash, people were advised to stay indoors, and some schools were closed on Wednesday. President Daniel Noboa also canceled his visit to the United Nations in New York and made an emergency return from abroad. Six injuries have been reported as of writing, and a suspect was arrested in connection with arson activities.
