Japan's Rapidus gears up for test production of next-generation chips
Atsuyoshi Koike, president of state-backed Japanese chip venture Rapidus Corp., holds a press conference in Tokyo on April 1, 2025, after the company completed a pilot manufacturing line for next-generation semiconductors in Chitose on the northernmost Japanese main island of Hokkaido. The company plans to produce prototype chips sometime in July in a major step toward its goal of launching mass production in 2027.
