US: Heavy Rains Cause Flash Flooding in Parts of NYC and Long Island

A slow-moving storm system hit the tri-state area on Monday, July 6, following nearly a week of stifling heat, causing widespread flooding and power outages. Flash floods filled roadways, businesses, and homes across New York and New Jersey. On Long Island, hurricane-force wind gusts brought down trees, with debris clogging drains and sewers and worsening the flooding.
