China: Father And Son Rescued After Falling Into Manhole In Wuhan

A boy, together with his father, was rescued after falling into a manhole in Wuhan, Hubei on May 25. The filmer of the video rushed to the scene after hearing people yelling to call for the police. Initially thinking it was a traffic accident, he realized that a father and son were in a manhole upon close inspection. Passersby and police used a rope to pull the father and son after a wooden pole was too slippery to help in the rescue. The filmer stopped recording and assisted in the rescue. He later found out from the father that when his 2 sons were playing on the street, they accidentally stepped on an unsecured manhole cover and the younger one fell into the manhole.

China: Resident Accidentally Causes Mountain Fire, Blaze Spreads On Roadside Hill In Guizhou

A motorist plying the Loop Highway in Guiyang captured a video of a fire spreading on a hill along the road on February 18. According to media reports, the fire was accidentally started by a resident in Bijie, a city next to Guiyang City, after he burned weeds in his cultivated field. The fire had spread due to strong winds in the area. Local authorities reported on the 19th that the blaze was contained.
