Macao's police step up security as handover nears

MACAO - Photo shows police officers on Dec. 14 patrolling the venue for Macao's handover ceremony to be held at midnight Dec. 19 through early Dec. 20. Macao police have beefed up security of the entire territory prior to the historic event. The enclave is to return to Chinese rule at midnight Dec. 19, after 442 years of Portuguese rule.
