Ex-Itochu chairman Sejima dies at 95

TOKYO, Japan - Ryuzo Sejima (file photo taken in 1997), an Imperial Headquarters staffer-turned-Itochu Corp. chairman, died of old age on Sept. 4 at his Tokyo home. He was 95. While Itochu chairman, Sejima played a major role in privatizing Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corp. and the Japan National Railways as a member of the government's commission on administrative reform. He was also known for his close ties with former Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone.

Government again downgrades economic assessment

1st meeting of Council on Economic, Fiscal Policy held

Cabinet adopts 82.65 tril. yen FY 2001 budget

Panel calls on gov't to revise 1947 education law

Mori took the four-question test at a home electric appliance booth at Eco-Products 2000, a three-day event that ran through Dec. 16, accompanied by Environment Agency chief Yoriko Kawaguchi (R).

Tax panel chief Ishi hands report on tax proposals to Mori

TOKYO, Japan - Hiromitsu Ishi, chairman of the government's Tax Commission, presents Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori a package of tax reform proposals at the prime minister's official residence in Tokyo on Dec. 13.
