U.S.-Japan nuclear map drill held in 1957: U.S. document
A U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff document dated Feb. 17, 1958, found at the U.S. National Archives in Maryland is shown in October 2014. The document found in a joint investigation by Kyodo News and Akira Kurosaki, associate professor of Fukushima University, revealed that the use of nuclear weapons was simulated in a combined U.S.-Japanese Map Exercise FUJI conducted in Japan in the period Sept. 24-28 in 1957.
