Symbol of Japan-China friendship damaged by quakes
A golden snub-nosed monkey, a rare species native to China, is seen in the photo taken April 18, 2016, at the Kumamoto City Zoological and Botanical Gardens. A pavilion at the zoo, built in 1992 as a symbol of the friendship between the southwestern Japan city of Kumamoto and the Chinese city of Guilin, collapsed in the wake of powerful earthquakes, although animals there remain safe.
