Kochi, Sapporo courts reject war orphans' damages claims

SAPPORO, Japan - Miyoko Ito, a plaintiff in a lawsuit filed by a group of war-displaced Japanese from China, weeps outside the Sapporo District Court on June 15 after the court rejected their claim for state compensation over their plight in Japan. The banner on Ito's left calls the ruling ''unfair.'' The Kochi District Court also delivered a similar ruling on the same day. Court rejects suit against collective enshrinement at Yasukuni
