Nagasaki court recognizes 20 as A-bomb illness sufferers
NAGASAKI, Japan - Minoru Moriuchi, the 71-year-old head of a group of plaintiffs seeking recognition as sufferers of A-bomb related illnesses, offers flowers June 23 at an A-bomb monument in Nagasaki Peace Park after the Nagasaki District Court recognized 20 of the 27 plaintiffs as suffering from illnesses caused by radiation from the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing of Nagasaki, declaring illegal the government's refusal to grant them certification.
