Honda Electronics' ultrasonic microscope for cells

Honda Electronics and Prof. Naohiro Hozumi of Toyohashi University of Technology have developed an ultrasonic microscope that can observe the state of cultured cells as a continuous tomogram, and will build a prototype for commercialization by December, followed by evaluation of the microscope at Hamamatsu University of Medicine. They aim to commercialize the microscope within four years after the evaluation. The aim is to use the microscope in regenerative medicine and drug discovery. The developed ultrasound microscope for cell observation incorporates software for acoustic analysis method developed at Toyohashi University of Technology. By using the acoustic analysis method, it is possible to view the fault information of living cells without touching the cell culture medium.
