Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday opened the public viewing of former President Mwai Kibaki's body which is lying in the state within the country's parliament building.
The head of state was accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, deputy president William Ruto, Chief Justice, and various governors and country leaders.
The military procession was mounted as the body was being escorted to the parliament building for public viewing, in an elaborate military ceremony that will be replicated during his memorial service and burial in his rural home in central Kenya.
Kibaki, who died on Friday, served as the third President of Kenya from 2002 to 2013.
