STORYLINE:
Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday commissioned the offshore Kipevu Oil Terminal at the port of Mombasa.
The 770-meter-long jetty was built by the China Communications Construction Company.
It has the capacity to load and offload all categories of petroleum products from very large sea tankers of up to 200,000 deadweight tonnes (dwt), which makes it the largest of its kind in Africa.
The jetty was developed as part of sustained government efforts to lower fuel pump prices in the country.
