Emperor, empress host thank-you party for Dutch royal family

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - Japanese Emperor Akihito (L) and Empress Michiko are welcomed by well-wishers as they arrive at a thank-you party they hosted for the Dutch royal family May 24 in Amsterdam. The emperor expressed grief and sadness at a state banquet May 23 over the two nations' conflict in World War II, which he said has left ''unhealed scars'' among war victims.
