Kurdish man, family fight deportation order in court

TOKYO, Japan - Zilan, 3-year-old daughter of Taskin, a Kurdish man, and his Filipiono wife Beltran, appears at a press conference in Tokyo on March 12 with lawyer Takeshi Ohhashi after Ohhashi, acting on behalf of the three, filed a lawsuit at the Tokyo District Court seeking a reversal of the Justice Ministry's decision to deport them for overstaying their visas. Zilan is now living with Beltran's sister in Japan because her parents have been detained by the Tokyo Regional Immigration Bureau since January.
