According to the latest data released by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), the unemployment rate in India has risen to a three-month high of 7.8% in March 2023, indicating a deterioration in the country's labor market.
The northern state of Haryana continues to have the highest unemployment rate in the country at 26.8 percent, followed by its neighboring state Rajasthan at 26.4 percent.
The unemployment rate in urban areas was higher at 8.51 percent, while in rural areas it stood at 7.47 percent, the data showed.
In February, the unemployment rate in urban areas stood at 7.93 percent, while in rural areas it was at 7.23 percent.
