Japanese ocean adventurer Kenichi Horie

                  KOBE, Japan - Renowned Japanese yachtsman Kenichi Horie, 63, waves as he leaves Shin-Nishinomiya harbor in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, on May 12 for a 10,000-kilometer voyage to San Francisco on board MALT'S Mermaid 3, which is made of recycled material.                     Ikuo Kashima, 69, sets sail on a solitary, around-the-world yacht trip Tuesday Sept. 15 from Tannowa Yacht Harbor in Osaka Prefecture in his 13.92-ton yacht. He plans to complete the voyage without stopping at any port along the way. Kashima, the first Japanese to cross solitarily both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans more than 30 years ago, said, ''I want to show what a 70-year-old man can achieve.''
