Protest in Tokyo over Osprey

TOKYO, Japan - Protesters march in Tokyo's Uchisaiwaicho district on Jan. 27, 2013, against the deployment of tilt-rotor Osprey transport aircraft at the U.S. Marine Corps' Futenma Air Station in Ginowan, Okinawa Prefecture. Ministry mulls platform barriers to prevent falls

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows a barrier which automatically opens and closes with train doors installed at Uchisaiwaicho Station on Tokyo's Mita subway line. The transport ministry is planning to consider installing the barriers on train and subway platforms to prevent passengers, particularly the visually impaired, intoxicated and elderly, from falling onto tracks, ministry sources said Aug. 14.

Races canceled after empress dowager's death

TOKYO, Japan - Horse races are canceled June 17 following the death of the 97-year-old Empress Dowager Nagako on June 16.
