Yanase Honorary Chairman Jiro Yanase dies at 91

TOKYO, Japan -Jiro Yanase (file photo), honorary chairman of Yanase & Co., who pioneered the auto import business in Japan, died March 13 at a Tokyo hospital of pneumonia at age 91, his family said. Yanase, who was ran the imported car dealership for over half a century, was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in the United States in 2004.

Born in Tokyo, he inherited the tradition of classical Japanese dance as a performer of the Hanayagi school. His real name was Jiro Aoyama.

TOKYO, Japan - File photo shows Osamu Uno, a former chairman of the Kansai Economic Federation (Kankeiren), who died of bile duct cancer at a hospital in Osaka on Nov. 12 at the age of 83. Uno, a former president of Toyobo Co., served as chairman of the most powerful business lobby in the Osaka area between 1987 and 1994.
