Child under 6 declared brain-dead for 1st time for organ transplant
TOKYO, Japan - Juntaro Ashikari (2nd from R, front), an official of the Japan Organ Transplant Network, holds a press conference at the health ministry in Tokyo on the night of June 14, 2012, after Toyama University Hospital in Toyama city declared a boy under age 6 as brain-dead for the first time in Japan under the revised organ transplantation law. The child's organs are expected to be harvested for transplantation as a result of the family's consent.
